MATTAKING
Mister Mat x Kings Comfort. This fabulous looking son of
Mister Mat was purchased at the Doncaster Breeze Up sales
held at Cheltenham Racecourse in December 2007. This is the
same place that we bought Important Business the previous
year, and produces many quality horses. Matty as he is known
at home has fabulous presence, he is really good looking and
moves beautifully. Introduced gentlyto the Fences Farm way
of life, he had his first run in Feb 2008 and quickly progressed
to hurdles finishing 4th 3rd and 2nd in 7 attempts. He should
be capable of winning soonif he puts his best foot forward.

KIKOS
Nikos x Balgarde. This strapping son of Nikos, who is bred
along the same lines as the Paul Nicholls trained star chaser,Master
Minded, was purchased at the horses in training sale held by
DBS at their new sales complex in Doncaster in May. Bought
from Sir Robert Ogden, out of Alan Kings yard he is rated
95 over hurdles and the plan is to go straight over fences
with him in the 2008/2009 season. He was bought to replace
Bobby Gee as the Nick Brown Racing Club horse for the forthcoming
season.

BOBBY
GEE
Bobby Gee. Bobs Return x Country Orchid. Originally leased
from his owner/breeder to run for The Sherington Partnership
after Paix Eternelle suffered her unfortunate injury, Bobby
has become a real yard favourite. Bobby is a fine big horse
who just loves to please in everything he does, giving 110%
at all times. He just eats, sleeps and works, and you cannot
ask for more than that. Bobs also possesses a great deal of
ability, and after showing some decent form in northern bumpers
for Kieth Reveley he has performed with great credit for us
and has never been out of the first 3 over hurdles since he
arrived at Fences Farm. He is the most natural jumper you
will ever see, and his future really does lie over fences,
but we think he may be well handicapped (on 122) over the
smaller ones just yet, and for that reason he may start the
2008/2009 season in decent handicap hurdles. When he does
go chasing he could well be top class, and we could even start
dreaming of Cheltenham Festivals with him. I was lucky to
secure Bobby Gees future within Nick Brown Racing earlier
in the year, and he is now available in shares. Each 1/8 share
in the new Oakley Partnership will cost £4,000 plus
a further £200 per month to cover all training costs.
A horse of this quality and potential, very rarely comes on
the market, and so this is a very exciting new Partnership,
and one that will be going to all the big meetings with Bobby
Gee running in some very big races!! So if you enjoy the high
life then this one is for you!!

PAIX
ETERNELLE
PAIX ETERNELLE OR 'NELLIE' AS SHE IS KNOWN AT HOME
WAS PURCHASED PRIVATELY OUT OF THE NICKY HENDERSON YARD IN
JUNE 2006, AFTER FAILING TO REACH HER RESERVE AT THE DONCASTER
MAY SALES. SHE HAD WON A BUMPER ON DEBUT AT FONTWELL, BEATING
SOME WELL REGARDED TYPES FROM THE NICHOLLS AND TIZZARD CAMPS,
AND THEN WENT ON TO RUN WITH GREAT CREDIT IN THE LISTED BUMPER
AT THE AINTREE GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. UNFORTUNATELY NELLIE
SUFFERED A SMALL INJURY 2 DAYS BEFORE HER PROPOSED DEBUT FOR
THE SHERINGTON PARTNERSHIP IN NOVEMBER 2006, AND WILL BE SIDELINED
FOR THE SEASON.FORTUNATELY THE INJURY WILL REPAIR AND WE LOOK
FORWARD TO GETTING HER BACK FOR THE 2007/2008 SEASON WHEN
SHE WILL BE AIMED AT THE MARES ONLY HURDLE SERIES.

RAVENSTONE
LAD
RAVENSTONE LAD WAS PURCHASED FOR THE RAVENSTONE PARTNERSHIP
AT THE DONCASTER SPRING SALES IN MAY 2005.HE IS A WELL BRED
INDIVIDUAL BEING BY TOP NATIONAL HUNT SIRE, PRESENTING , OUT
OF A MARE THAT HAS BRED A LISTED PLACED CHASER. RAVENSTONE
LAD RAN IN TWO BUMPERS FOR THE PARTNERSHIP, BUT ALTHOUGH POSSESSING
OBVIOUS ABILITY AT HOME HE WAS TOO BIG AND WEAK TO BE COMPETITIVE
ON THE COURSE, SO HE WAS SOLD IN NOVEMBER 2006 AND WILL RESUME
HIS RACING CAREER IN POINT TO POINTS WHEN HE HAS FINISHED
MATURING AND STRENGTHENED OUT, PROBABLY IN 2008

OLNEY
LAD
OLNEY LAD WAS PURCHASED FOR THE TYRINGHAM PARTNERSHIP
IN SEPTEMBER 2003. HE WAS TO PROVE A GREAT SUCCESS, WINNING
SIX OF HIS NINETEEN STARTS AND NEARLY £90,000 IN PRIZE
MONEY. HIS GREATEST MOMENT WAS WINNING THE 100,000 EURO BETFAIR
CHASE AT THE PUNCHESTOWN FESTIVAL IN APRIL 2006, AND IN DOING
SO HE PROVED TO BE THE ONLY BRITISH TRAINED WINNER OF THE
WHOLE WEEK.
UNFORTUNATELY THIS PROVED TO BE BITTER SWEET, AS
HE SADLY HAD TO BE PUT DOWN AFTER SUFFERING IRREPAIRABLE INJURIES
DURING THE RACE. THANKFULLY WE DID EVENTUALLY GET HIM HOME
AND HE WAS ABLE TO SPEND HIS LAST WEEKS AT FENCES FARM.
ALTHOUGH HE IS GONE HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN BY
THOSE THAT WERE INVOLVED IN HIM.
PHOTOGRAPHS AND A DIARY OF HIS EXPLOITS IN IRELAND
CAN BE VIEWED ON THE PUNCHESTOWN PAGE.

KISS
ME KATE
Members of The Royal George Partnership were understandably
bitten by the bug and requested that we bought a replacement
for our hero. This came in the shape of Kiss Me Kate a previous
winner on the flat for John Hills and over hurdles for Simon
Sherwood. She was very well bred being the half sister to
a very good horse trained by Mick Channon called Pan Jammer.
She was a very athletic mare with a lovely nature and was
to give us a great day at Warwick when she so nearly landed
a monster gamble(25/l into 9/1) only failing by about a length
after being at least 20 lengths adrift with 2 furlongs to
run. Unfortunately these exertions took their toll and she
suffered a hairline fracture to a knee, the members were very
patient and stuck with her as we all liked her so much but
she never regained her form and was sold as a brood mare.

OUTPLACEMENT
Nick Brown Partnerships began in 1999, when I purchased
a 4 year old American bred gelding for the princely sum of
£200 (including VAT!!) after a very sociable evening
at Newmarket races. This was Outplacement who was to give
The Royal George Racing Partnership a huge thrill, when, trained
by Roy Bowring, he won on the All Weather at Southwell on
only his third outing at the massive odds of 50 to 1!!!
Unfortunately Wiz as he was known at home suffered
an injury when in the process of running a huge race in a
Maiden Hurdle at Huntingdon on Easter Monday 2000. He was
subsequently retired and now spends his time relaxing at home
on our family farm with my 28 year old former showjumping
pony, he will see out his days with us and is a real member
of the family.
