2012 started in the best possible way yesterday when San Telm won the 2 mile maiden hurdle at Fakenham. Given a peach of a ride by Sam, he sat off a suicidal pace in 3rd before taking it up 5 furlongs out and galloping away for an easy 24 length success. We will be buying Sam some wing mirrors for his birthday next month! San Telm had given us a little scare earlier in the week when he appeared flat, but after a quick MOT on Thursday the all clear was given and he seemed in rude health yesterday! The plan is to qualify him for the Grade 3 EBF Final at Sandown in March, so we will plot the best way to qualify, and maintain a handy mark, which will be fun. He didn't leave an oat last night and seems fine so the hard work of placing him correctly can begin. Good to have Howard Cooke at Fakenham with his family, along with Terence and Deidre Jenner, they both had a share in our dear old friend Robo who we lost last year - so it was particularly fitting that they were there to see their new boy win in a similar fashion to the way Robo had won there just over 12 months ago! Colebrooke has been entered for a juvenile hurdle at Sandown on Saturday - he seems in great form, and we will try to claim off of him to negate the penalty he incurred for his 41 length win at Fontwell. Montegonian could well go back to Kempton mid Jan, and Smart Exit will go back to Leicester on 24th. Both seem in fantastic form.Omaruru is in flying form - it is a job hanging on to him up the gallops.Kikos will be back to Fences Farm in a couple of weeks.
