Sunday 29 January

Colebrooke seems fine after his brave and gutsy effort in cheltenham yesterday. We always knew it was going to be a big ask, but the handicapper had forced our arm. He put him up 14lbs for winning last time out, which made no sense at the time, and was proven to be very wrong yesterday. Rated 136, and with a double penalty, Colebrooke could not run in an ordinary juvenile, and was way to high in the handicap to go down that route - so we went to Cheltenham. Noel Fehily gave him a lovely ride, and said what a lovely little horse he was. He just went as fast as he could for as far as he could, and against the opposition it was not fast or far enough, but there is no disgrace in that!He jumped really well which will hold him in good stead in the future! He seems to have come out of his race OK, and will have a little break now and come back in the spring - by which time the handicapper may have seen the light!
