Wednesday 1 February

We welcome February with the first really cold snap of an otherwise balmy winter. Although nothing like last winter, the thermometer registered -4 at 7.00am this morning which has put the mockers on the meetings at Leicester and Ludlow today, and Towcester tomorrow. Looking at the long range forecast it seems as though we could be in for this spell for a while which may cause some disruption to the cunning plans that we have been hatching for a few weeks. Not that the whole season is resting on these plans - but when you are striving for something it is always nice to get a crack at it! After yesterdays bad news from the handicapper regarding Colebrooke and the lack of slack he got in the revised ratings we have had to radically change our plans with him. We had intended to give him a break between now and March, but now we have to run him in the mean time. He will be out again between 18th and 25th of February. San Telm is still on course for Fakenham on 17th. Omaruru was due to have a racecourse workout with Ogee on Friday morning, but the freezing conditions look like scuppering that. Omar is going really well and is about a month off a run - probably back at Newbury. Ogee has not been mentioned in dispatches lately but is nearly ready to go again - more on him tomorrow. Kikos is in great form and is loving being back in work! Smart Exit is also in great order, and we will look for another race for him in a couple of weeks.
