Friday 10 February

There is no let up in the cold snap, with further freezing temperatures forecast for tonight, but there is light on the horizon and it seems as though the mercury will be rising next week. That should signal a welcome return to jumps action, and with San Telm scheduled to run at the end of the week in a vital qualifier, we could do with putting a few days of warming sun together. Ogee and Silver Wren (and possibly Honeycreeper)may also make the trip out to Norfolk. Colebrooke has been out on exercise this morning and Stuart phoned to say he was A1 and his joint was looking good! Fingers crossed with him! Omaruru is doing plenty of work, and doing it easily - possibly too easily, as he is slow in getting rid of his excess baggage, which may delay his return slightly. Newbury at the start of March may be a bit too soon, but there are plenty of races over the next 2 weeks for him - we are not short of options. Smart Exit is just ticking over, we need to get the backlog of horses out of the way before we entertain an entry - we think another novice would be the right way to go.
