It was an early start for a few hardy souls this morning as they made the trip over to Towcester to see Omaruru do a racecourse gallop. He was out on the course at 7.30 on the dot, and did a really nice piece of work with 2 workmates from another yard. Stuart rode, and took it up a third of the way along the back straight and wound it up all the way up the stiff Towcester hill to the finishing line, winning his work by about 10 lengths. A really good piece of work and one that should bring him on leaps and bounds. We will see how he comes out of it and make some decisions re targets. It will not be an early morning for Ben Turner this morning! Ben, a part owner of Colebrooke played for Cardiff City in the Carling Cup Final at Wembley yesterday, and played out of his skin. Personally he had a day to remember scoring with three minutes left of extra time to take it to penalties. Sadly after giving their all, they were to lose the shoot out, but they can all be very proud of themselves - Ben certainly left nothing out there on the Wembley turf! Smart Exit is entered in Folkestone and Southwell this week - Southwell looks unlikely as it has gone Good To Firm in places, and if Folkestone drys up (currently Good To soft in places) we will skip there as well and wait for some rain - a rareity I know but surely we must get some soon! Honeycreeper runs in Plumpton today - despite the yard being in flying form (4 winners from 11 runners this season) she looks to have it all to do from her lofty mark.
