A beautiful sunny morning at Fences Farm, who played host to a delegation of equine instructors, who came to look round a racing yard and watch work and schooling. Sam was in as well, and second lot we all saw him school Kikos with Ogee over the chase fences and both schooled really really well. A quick swap over and Sam schooled Colebrooke upsides Alice on Grassfinch - again both went very well, infact Colebrooke was as good as I have seen him. Grassfinch did get 4 faults but did get to go up again and she loved it! Another jockey change and Sam schooled Smart Exit with Honeycreeper - again both very good. After going for a strong canter up the all weather I was really pleased to hear Sam get off SE and say he was thrilled with the progress he is making. He thinks he has come on in leaps and bound form the last time he sat on him! Third lot we watched Omaruru (Sam) work with San Telm (Stuart). A cracking piece of work that was designed to get Omaruru working a bit harder. Nice idea - but not quite as expected, as he showed ST a clean pair of heels!! This takes some doing as ST is pretty quick. Having heard first thing this morning that the handicapper will not be dropping Omar until next week it means that he will not qualify for the Warwick Race, but having seen him work so well with the speedy San Telm we will pop him in a 0-120 handicap over the stiff 2 miles of Towcester, as he obviously has the pace alright! The Kayf Tara filly really does look fantastic, and will be long reined this afternoon and ridden again tomorrow.
