Tuesday 10 April

Time to catch up after a hectic Bank Holiday weekend. We start on Sunday when Aeschylus stayed on up the Towcester hill to win his bumper at the third attempt. Having finished in the frame in his last two outings he desrved the success, and now heads off for his summer break. This giant of a horse will do well for a summer at grass and will make a lovely hurdler next season. Sam gave him a peach of a ride from the front, and had plenty in reserve despite throwing his whip away as he went through the wings of the last! Kikos was a non runner in Chepstow yesterday. The ground just went way too soft for him, and he will now be aimed at Kempton Park next Tuesday, where he will be joined by E Major. Grassfinch was very game in defeat yesterday in Fakenham, just getting touched off by a neck in a competitive handicap hurdle - the first 2 pulling miles clear of the third. This diminutive mare is all heart, but will probably earn a hike in the weights for finishing second. Omaruru, who, yesterday was entered in a 2m 5f handicap hurdle on Sunday in Market Rasen now looks like an unlikely starter due to what appears to be a minor niggle. It will take 7-10 days to get to the bottom of it, so we will have to be patient.
