We took 'Big Ginger' and 'Little Ginger' to Kempton yesterday, and both ran very well. Big Kikos was first up in the handicap chase. This was his seasonal bow, and as usual he ran with great credit. Settled in off a strong pace he travelled and jumped superbly, taking it up as they exited the back straight he looked all over the winner jumping the last, only to get nabbed on the line! His record first time out is superb and we should have another season of fun with him! He seems A1 this morning, and if the handicapper leaves him alone he will go to Uttoxeter next month, if he puts him up we will have to think again. Little E Major took his turn an hour later. Carrying top weight in a 20 runner handicap he was always going to be up against it. Add into the mix the tight track, and inadequate trip - to finish fifth was a mighty effort. He was flat out all the way but never stopped trying and stayed on well up the home straight. He will have his day again this summer! I am now convinced Colebrooke is a lucky charm! Not only has he given his owners a great winters sport - winning twice, never disappointing, and giving them a day to remember at the Cheltenham Festival in March, they have all individually had a fantastic few months! Firstly James McPake, who was struggling to get into the Coventry first team after a very bad back injury (and op) last season, went on loan to Hibernian, where he was made Captain, and has helped to steer them into the Scottish Cup Final against arch rivals Hearts. Last night Jay Tabb was, with his side Reading, promoted to the Premiership - well done Tabby!! Although spending more than his fair share of time on the bench, he is an integral part of the team and will be going to the biggest grounds next season! Finally Ben Turner - who scored in the Carling Cup Final at Wembley for his club Cardiff. Cardiff are now odds on to make the Playoffs, where if successful he will join Tabby in The Premiership! On top of this, Ben and Jodi became proud parents for the first time last week,a bouncing baby girl. Mother and Daughter are fine and we send them our congratulations! So you see, little Colebrooke is just a fair talisman for them - so with a bit of luck they may decide to get another one next season! I have my eye on a few!!
