Tuesday 12 June
With filled ditches, high river levels and floods locally, after yesterdays monsoon like weather, it seems impossible that they splashed 4mm of water on ther track at Southwell yesterday in order to maintain Good ground!! The only good in a going description around these parts would be - good for ducks! Don't get me wrong - I am definitely not complaining - it means that all 4 of tonights runners can have a go. The ground will suit all 4 and we will have a busy and fun night out!! Tara Dancer looks like getting a good turn out of owners and supporters for her first go, and hopefully she will run a nice race and give us plenty to build on! It will be the first time to the races as owners for many, so we wish them the best of luck and hope they all enjoy a good night! There are still a couple of shares remaining in TD - so you could be joining her enthusiastic owners in the paddock when she runs next time! 07909 518902 for further details. The other big news of the day is about Kikos. As those regular readers will know we have been struggling with Kikos's handicap mark for a while now. When he is rated over 115 it, in effect, puts him up 2 grades, and although he always runs very well, it is just too much of an ask for him at 10. It also rules him out of plenty of races, in fact his next suitable engagement over fences would have been on the 21st July, and we would have had to look at a race over hurdles again in the meantime which was not ideal. These facts were pointed out to Phil Smith the Senior Handicapper last week by Mrs Robeson, and it was nice to see that he has been very accomodating and dropped Kikos 2 lbs to 115! This means that we can run him on July 1st in Uttoxeter which is fantastic. It gives us something to aim at!! We just need the rain to stay away now!!
