Tuesday 31 July
I promised yesterday to keep all owners up to date with the welfare of their horses via this page, and apologise for not doing so but I didn't get any info myself. I know from the texts and calls that you were keen to know the outcome of the ops, and that the horses were up OK after them, but I could only work on the basis that no news was good news.I am pleased to report that all went well and that Tannerman and Smart Exit have come through their ops fine. They will now return to Michael and Fionas, where after a couple of days they will both be on the walker and should be back to Fences Farm in 2-3 weeks. When they get back Tannerman should be in a position to start cantering after a few days, and Smart Exit, who has grown over the summer will continue his road work and conditioning for a couple more weeks. It will not be long before they are back on track.Today is the day that Omaruru gets the go ahead to go out in the field. He has been on box rest and walker since his injury in the spring, but now the scans show that the injury has healed enough for him to go out in the field and enjoy a bit of sun on his back.He will probably get the best of the weather now. He will be looked at again in a couple of months time, but will not be back to Fences Farm until June/July next year, to give the injury the maximum time to heal.
