Wednesday 1 August
Ogee stepped back in time last night to record his first win for 2 years, and his first win over hurdles since his Grade 1 success in the Sefton at Aintree in April 2009. It was great to see 'The Legend' get his nose in front, and despite talk of retirement from some quarters earlier this year - it was always felt that he could recapture his form on the track and win again. For those that kept the faith, he repaid in spades last night. E Major ran in snatches, and disliked some of the juicier parts of the course and Jamie was rightly easy on him once his chances had gone - he will have his day again as well, when he gets some genuinely quick ground. The horses that had their wind ops will be leaving the vets today. Smart Exit and Tannerman will go back to Michael and Fionas, and Reyno, Justazippy and Willow Wren will be coming back to Fences Farm. Yesterday the handicapper saw it fit to put The Fonz up 5lbs for finishing third in Worcester - which now puts him on a mark of 123. Hopefully he will be competitive off of his revised mark. Kikos remained unchanged on 114 despite getting beaten fair and square by 10+ lengths in Uttoxeter.
