Monday 6 August
Not too much 'horse news' to report this morning, although Kikos is in fine form,as Stephanie will testify after he sort of took her for a ride around the farm for a bit last week!! He will head to Hereford at the end of the month. Hereford has never been one of our 'lucky' tracks, but the news of it's imminent closure was still bad news. It does need some investment, but as I thought - the whole story of the closure of Hereford and Folkestone looks like it was part of a bigger picture involving Arena/Northern Racing against the relevent Local Authorities. A case of brinkmanship which I believe will end up with neither course closing for good! Ogee, The Fonz, and E Major are all well, and have targets over the next few weeks. Colebrooke and San Telm will soon be having a little canter as their conditioning work increases. A winner on Saturday - but of the canine kind - our dog Apollo won his second race for us at 6/4. We had thought he would run very well, but had expected his odds to be very prohibitive, and none of his owners were on unfortunately! We could console ourselves with watching the great action from the Games - what a Saturday that was! Great sporting action - long may it continue!!
