Monday 13 August
The Olympics have come and gone, but as planned, left a legacy that will remain for many many years. The games have put the Great back into Great Britain, and I for one am very proud of the spectacle our country put on. The organisation and coverage has been top class, as have the performances of our athletes who have secured an unbelievable medal tally over the past 2 weeks. Well done everybody! Back home - a few start cantering today, including San Telm and Colebrooke. Both these boys look fantastic, and they will thoroughly enjoy going on a pace. Smart Exit and Tannerman will be back shortly, and it will not be long before Tannerman is joing them in some slow canter work. Kikos remains in very good health, and he will be spot on for Hereford in a couple of weeks. Omaruru is out in the field along with Tara Dancer. While the horses have been enjoying their summer holidays we have not been idle, and have kept notching up the winners - only this time with our 'Club' greyhound Apollo. Apollo came from Ireland in the spring, and in fairness it took him a while to adjust to life on this side of the Irish Sea, but recently he has made up for it in some style winning 3 of his last five starts. The latest of these victories was on Saturday night when he was quickly away and led them a merry dance to qualify for the final of The Owners Bonus Race next Saturday, which carries a prize fund of £1000, with £500, plus a trophy and jacket going to the winning dog. Now that he has found his feet over here, he could well run very well!! There are still a couple of shares for sale in him if anyone is interested.
