Wednesday 11 July

Day One of The Ashes series today - and lets hope we can continue the run of fantastic sporting success over the last few weeks!! It will be a hard fought series - but if England bring their A Game they should eb too strong for the Aussies! Talking of Cricket - Eversholt CC who are so kind to host us and our Charity match every year have their big day in a couple of weeks - The Lashings Match. The Lashings XI are made up of former test players and tour around the country every summer raising funds both for their charities and their host clubs. It is a fantastic day, and one I am very much looking forward to!! By the way, I am pleased to announce that there will be a cheque for £500 winging its way to the Injured Jockeys Fund as a result of your support at The Eversholt v Nick Brown Racing Charity Cricket match a couple of weeks ago. On their behalf we thank you!! Please read on for further details of the Eversholt CC v Lashings XI day: On Thursday, 25th July, 2013, Eversholt Cricket Club will once again host a Lashings World XI team packed with international stars such as England’s Phil DeFreitas, Australia’s Ian Harvey, Pakistan's Inzamam ul-Haq and the great Gordon Greenidge from the all-conquering West Indies. Based at one of the game's most beautiful settings, this is a must-see event for any cricket fan! This will be Lashings' fourth visit to Eversholt and it looks like being an even bigger and better event than the wonderful previous matches that were enjoyed by around 2,000 spectators from children to pensioners. With live commentary from the legendary Henry Blofeld, it really is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the game’s greatest players up close in action against the local side whilst enjoying a picnic or taking advantage of the catering and bar facilities that will be available on the day. The Club takes great pride in its place within the local community and funds raised on the day will go towards the upkeep of the Ground and our continued commitment to provide coaching and encouragement to all abilities from age 6 years and above. When Lashings last visited, the Club donated £850 of the money raised to Willen Hospice and this year the chosen charity will be Save the Children. Entry is by purchase of a Match Programme for just £5 per head at the gate with ample free parking available close to the ground. There will be a Junior Coaching session in the morning supported by Lashings players and the main event will get underway at about 2:30pm - please see website for more information. For more information about the day including the attached sponsorship opportunities and spaces at the pre-match Marquee Luncheon with the players, please contact: Dave Garratt, Club Chairman, on 01908 282278 / 07508 113431 or davidgarratt@btinternet.com Full details are available at: www.eversholtcricketclub.co.uk
