With Bangor getting a nice drop of rain last night - and further showers forecast, Carolina Wren has been declared to run in the mares novices hurlde there tomorrow. She was third in a bumper on debut at the end of last season, and has matured over the summer, that being said she is making her hurdling debut tomorrow, against some nice looking mares, and a safe round is the most important thing about tomorrows run. Good news re our friend and jockey Brian Toomey, who continues to make an extraordinary recovery from the serious head injuries he sustained in a fall at Perth earlier in the summer. Brian has now moved down to Oaksey house, where he will continue his rehab. We wish him well in his continued recovery and look forward to seeing him soon! On Sunday morning I had the pleasure os showing David, Jennaya and little Elouise around Fences Farm. They very much enjoyed their visit, and are looking forward to joining in with a share in a couple of horses! Also at the weekend we have to mention 'Alice' who was competing in her first 1* event. A big step up from her usual runs, and Both her self and Magnifico went fantastically well to finush 15th (out of 90 odd runners)!! A superb start to their career in with the big boys and girls - and another advert for what can be done with retired and retrained racehorses!! Well done Alice!
