All well at Fences Farm - Ereyna has come out of her race with no apparent ill effects, and as mentioned will head off to a 3m mares race next time out. All of the horses that are doing their walking and trotting are in good order - Cloonacool in particular, who is having a good old buck and a kick while out on exercise. Stuart has been monitoring Dawn Commander for a few days as he has not been 100% happy with him, and while the vet was in a couple of days ago he had him cast his eye over him. DC has always pulled out a bit stiff in the mornings, but it has not stopped him! He ended up last season a bit stiff, but we thought that a few weeks summer rest would sort it, but unfortunately it looks as though he is going to need a bit of help. He will have his hocks medicated, which should ease the situation for him. If he is still a bit feeling after that we will look at medicating his sacroiliac joint. These are common practices that will help to lubricate the joints and make him go more freely. Nothing to worry about. Jamie Goss called yesterday regarding Native Princess - he reports her to be in great order, and getting a bit cheeky with it. She will shortly start cantering. NP will also have a visit from the vet shortly, but in this instance it is merely for the removal of a 'wolf tooth' that he feels will become a problem if not dealt with now. As you can see - the vets are a vital part of the training of horses - without them it becomes very difficult to maximise the full potential of any horse - we are fortunate in the fact that we have a very good vet in Ed Brett (but we will not be telling him that)!!
