Tuesday 7 July
Dawn Commander seems fine after his run in Market Rasen on Sunday. I thought Brendan gave him a super ride. We know how tricky DC can be, and that the start is crucial, and Brendan did the job superbly. Keeping him wide, and bustling him up to be with the pace he got the horse up there and enjoying it, which was key. DC was a little behind the bridle for the first circuit, but second time round he travelled like a dream, and I though he was going to win again approaching 2 out - nothing was going better. We wondered if he had slightly 'blown up', but Brendan seems to think that he was just out speeded over a trip that is probably over a quarter of a mile shorter than he really wants! Looking back on it I am still delighted and he should be good to go to Worcester in Late July. (ground permitting). Three more of ours were among the latest bunch of horses to return to their stables yesterday. Native Princess has had a good few weeks off, and has thrived for it. She will be ready to run again in late August. San Telm and Smart Exit have also returned and look really well. They will be shod over the next day or two, and will then start their conditioning work! Time will now fly by, and it will not seem like 5 minutes before they are all making their seasonal debuts!!!
