Wednesday 16 September

Bold Conquest has clearly benefitted from his away day last week, and worked really well this morning. He worked in behind 2 workmates, and then cm to join them at the end of the piece of work. This is how he likes to go about his business, and this is how he is t his most effective. On the back of this mornings work he has earned an entry in a staying handicap hurdle (3.10) in Warwick next week (Tuesday 22). We will monitor the ground as we know that he doesn't want it too quick, but hopefully he will get to go. If he doesn't it is not the end of the world, as there are plenty of options for him over the course of the next 2 weeks. We are also monitoring the ground for Native Princess in Newton Abbot on Friday. Earlier this week it looked unlikely that she would go as the ground down there was too quick, with little or no rain in their forecast, but that has now changed, and they could get quite a bit this afternoon, so if the race looks like cutting up, which it could do if their ground goes very soft, she may well make the trip. The better mares in the race all have a preference for a sound surface, and as NP is a winner on soft, it would put her at quite an advantage. Awkward for the owners, as Newton Abbot is a long trip to arrange at the last minute - but we are doing everything we can to maximise their chances of getting the hat trick up!! Stuart and I will have a sit down on Saturday, and go over some plans for some horses. Christmas Twenty will get another go at the end of the month/early October. Cloonacool is still on course for Market Rasen a week on Saturday. San Telm is nearly ready to run, and will be out in early October (share available). Savingforvegas is now being ridden, she is doing a week or so of trotting, and although all of her work thus far has been on the walker, she is proving to have a decent level of fitness, and will be cantering very soon. Smart Exit is another who seems very much back to his best, and he is earmarked for a Chepstow handicap chase in early October, (ground permitting).
