A weekend of highs and lows in Cheltenham. The retirement of Sprinter Sacre - great to see him parade in one piece, followed by the sad death of Simonsig minutes later - the highs and lows of racing! We should always be grateful wehn the horses are safe and sound - even when they don't quite run up to expectations! Saturdays Uttoxeter runner Sneaking Budge was ridden today, and although he has a slight swelling above his knee, probably the result of a bang, he is 100% sound and well. Chandos Belle worked for the first time on Saturday and went well - as a way to get to know her she will have 2 entries on the flat next week - Chelmsford on the 21st, and Wolverhampton on the 23rd. The Chelmsford race is a 2m heat, and the Wolves race is 1m 4f. We will look at entries and see what we think. Both races carry a decent prize fund - a lot more than at the end of the Fences Farm gallop - so why not go and see how she behaves herself at the track before she meets 8 flights of hurdles? There is a very limited number of shares left in this exciting filly - so get in touch if you fancy having a runner on the flat!! 07909 518902 - nickbrownracing@gmail.com The new yearling has settled well at The Elms Stud, but will unfortunately for him, suffer the unkindest cut of all on Wednesday, when he is gelded. It was good to see his full brother put in a fine jumping display to finish fourth in a competitive hurdle in Enghien the day after I purchased him! He is from a very nice family!! Wolf Of Windlesham, who was running a mighty race in The Greatwood Hurdle yesterday when he capsized at the second last, seems fine this morning - again - connections are all grateful after what had occurred earlier in the afternoon. Cloonacool had a touch of a jippy tummy over the weekend, but is fine again now. Bold Conquest is in fine form, and has an entry in Chepstow on Wednesday. It looks a hot heat, but after his very commendable second there three weeks ago, he is likely to run if the ground is suitable. Brendan Powell will ride if available. Molly Childers is in great heart, and if all goes to plan she will be entered in the mares bumper in Wetherby on the 23rd, a race the yard won last year with Savingforvegas. Pull Together is also going well, and will start to quicken up again this weekend.
