Friday 20 January
The time is getting close for a couple of the babies to have an away day, and take another step along the path of their education. Top Gary, and Kingsley could have a short trip to Towcester early next month, to see the sights and experience a journey for the first time in a few months. Both are going very nicely at home, and look to have nice futures. The one to stay at home is 'Frankie', the Flemensfirth filly, who is just not quite as far forward as the other two, and will have to wait for her go, although she too is going nicely at home. This afternoon Pine Warbler runs in Chepstow's 3.50, a maiden hurdle. He is very tough and consistent, and will run his race. He has the form to be there or there abouts, but whether he can win it or not is a different matter. The addition of a tongue tie will aid his cause. Tomorrow, Wolf Of Windlesham is declared to run in Ascot, which despite being covered is in grave danger of being abandoned due to being frozen. If it goes ahead, Davy Russell will replace Josh. On Sunday, Grey Warbler has been declared to make her racecourse debut. Out of Cettis Warbler, by Notnowcato, she is a homebred and goes nicely at home. When she wins her race it will be a special day, as the late Mrs Robeson bred her, her dam, and her sire!! Cloonacool will run in the next 2 weeks, he is well. Unfortunately Chandos Belle had a poor scope yesterday, so is unable to run next week. She will have 10 days cantering, while on a 10 day course of antibiotics, and then if she is well again she will be back on the track. Marias Benefit is on course for her rules debut in Doncaster at the end of next week. Apasionado is still on track for the 25th of February in Kempton, and may even have an away day before them with the exciting former Irish Point to Pointer Legal OK. Land League is fine, and could well go to either Towcester or Warwick next month - get in touch to own a bit of this exciting horse - I keep saying it - you will not be disappointed!! Sneaking Budge was due to be assessed again by the vet this week, but the goon that he is, he ripped a shoe half off on Monday, and one of the nails punctured his sole, so it was a waste of time for the vet to see him. He is cantering, and Ed will see him again shortly.
