CAMARO

Camaro is a 6 yr old dark bay/brown gelding who we think has a very bright future here in the UK. He has had 2 runs in bumpers in 2017, and the form of his second one looks rock solid. He was very well fancied (and backed accordingly) to win on debut in the spring, but he ran no sort of race and was found to be sick afterwards, as were a lot of the trainers string at the time. He was given a summers break, and reappeared at the big meeting in Down Royal in November. Again contesting a bumper, he ran a fine race to be fifth, which on the day looked a good run as he was a bit keen during the race, but still ran well. The form of this race has now had time to shake out a bit, and it just keeps getting better and better. The winner, Rapid Escape, has gone on to complete the hat trick in bumpers, most recently in winning a Listed event, and Gordon Elliott has told me how highly he regards him. The second has had two further starts in bumpers, finishing second to a very bright prospect of Willie Mullins, who he considers to be a Champion Bumper contender, and then winning by an easy 8 lengths in a Fairyhouse Bumper on New Years Day. The fourth horse in Down Royal has had two subsequent runs, finishing third in the Punchestown Bumper, before running a fantastic race in Leopardstowns Christmas Festival where he was beaten less than 3 lengths in what the Racing Post called a red hot maiden hurdle. As you can see the form just gets better and better, and he looks like cast iron bumper material in the UK. He has been at Stuarts for a couple of weeks, and he has really liked what he has seen. He is very athletic, and all that have ridden him have loved him! Just over 12 months ago I had Maria's Benefit for sale, and it took a while to find her an owner.
